Are you a high school student interested in careers in zoos or aquariums? Gain a better understanding of the field by applying for a Job Shadow opportunity at the OKC Zoo!
What will I do on a job shadow?
Every day at the Zoo is different, so each job shadow experience is unique! You will be assigned to a specific area for an entire day (8am-5pm) to experience the daily routine of the staff. In animal areas, you may be able to participate in tasks, such as helping prepare animal diets, assisting with exhibit cleaning, and preparing enrichment projects for the animals. In the horticulture department, you will learn about how the Zoo cares for the variety of plants within the Zoo. In the Education department, you will learn about how the Zoo uses our animal ambassadors and biofacts to share our love of nature with people of all ages.
Who can apply?
Job shadow experiences are open to high school students in grades 9-12; however, juniors and seniors are given preference.

Job shadow experiences are available on a first-come, first-served basis for those submitting complete applications and are dependent on Zoo staff availability.
